Getting Started

If you want to start your children in piano lessons, what do you need to do? Are you interested in taking lessons yourself, but uncertain how to begin? This page explains it all.

Starting out as an adult

It’s never too late to learn. We have programs for adults that range from beginning to late intermediate in level. Those who have never taken lessons before can start at the Level I class. Those with more experience will want to join classes such as the Fakin’ It or Let’s Play! classes. Browse the classes we offer for adults to see which looks right for you.

A keyboard for home

One of the most common questions that we are asked is, "What kind of instrument do I need at home?" You certainly need something since there will be practice assignments from the first day. And practice is imperative for successful piano lessons. If you are unsure whether the lessons will be continuing long term, we recommend that you buy or rent a keyboard. For those first few months at least that will be sufficient while you find out if this is something that will be continuing or not. As the student (child or adult) progresses to upper levels (our Piano 4, 5, & 6 classes for kids and Level III, IV and so on for adults) you will want to purchase or upgrade your rental to either a digital piano or a "real" piano. Our Buyer’s Club is designed to help you out with that purchase.
